A few months ago, I watched Francois Ozon’s film Sous Le Sable (2000), which felt like a devastating little novella. Quite a contrast to his usual films (both visually and tonally), this is a film about loss and grief, the disassociation of denial, and the coping mechanisms we try to dance with.
