I just finished three seasons of Barry. It took me a week. It was easy — the way most HBO shows make themselves irresistible to us, with their vague liberal messaging, couched in the allure of authenticity, a mimetic of rawness. Barry is no step away from HBO’s modus operandi: the everyday violence of American life, mirrored back to us through the comforting lens of fiction.
